I want to race the Tor des Geants ® - A 356 km foot race across the Italian mountains in September
Have you ever had a dream.. a goal so audacious, you doubt how it's even humanly possible. For me, it's the Tor des Geants.
Here's a brief description
----------------------------------------------------------------
A foot race in natural surroundings that follows Alte Vie paths 1 and 2 in the Valle d'Aosta (Italy), starting and finishing at Courmayeur.
A distance of 356km with a positive altitude difference of around 27,390 metres (ITRA evaluation), passing through 34 municipal districts. The race is run in a single, free-speed stage within a limited time, in conditions of semi-self-sufficiency.
The route of the Tor des Géants® includes several high-altitude sections, including some over 3000 meters, with extremely harsh weather conditions (wind, cold, rain, snow and ice), alternating with sections at much lower altitudes where the conditions can be the exact opposite (very hot).
Runners must be prepared for varying weather conditions between one life base and the next (around 50km), both day and night. Your choice of clothing and the equipment you carry with you should therefore reflect what is required for these particular circumstances.
Rigorous training and a physical capacity for personal autonomy are essential requirements for taking part in this race.
WARNING!
Underestimating the physical and psychological preparation required, as well as the appropriate clothing and equipment, can have dangerous and potentially life-threatening consequences!
----------------------------------------------------------------
This race alone is likely to cost every athlete 810 euros (64000 INR)
Obviously this is a huge amount for someone who receives no funding and I'm unlikely to be able to achieve this goal by scrimping and saving alone.
The logistics and expenses of the event is daunting to say the least and I can only do it with the tremendous help of my dear friends and supporters.
I am the only Indian to get selected for the 2019 edition. Since its inception, I believe, only one other Indian has completed this prestigious race. For someone like me, living and training in the remote Himalayas, struggling to make ends meet, it is an honor and a privilege to represent the country at an international stage.
At present, there is no governing body (like the BCCI) to support and fund ultra-athletes like me. The dedication and commitment to excel in races is entirely self-driven. Without financial income it is challenging to say the least.
I want financial help to advance my career, as it will be used to offset the costs of travel, accommodation, entry fees etc.

Coaching - many elite athletes seek out coaches to improve. Maybe I'm stubborn, maybe old-fashioned.. but I have never been coached. I have improved by the watch and of course, by experience like someone of my achievements listed here
I would much appreciate your support. If you can't donate anything at this time, it's equally helpful to spread the word by sharing this page. I'm not doing this for world peace, to eliminate poverty or any such fancy causes. It's purely self-motivated. If it gets people to set big goals and embrace the outdoors, lead an active lifestyle, I would be happy. Inspiration is a word thrown around loosely these days. Inspiration comes from within. Being a do-er. That's what inspires me. Some of you are new to my running dreams while many others are great supporters from my past races. Please share this with family and friends. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continued faith in me and look forward to sharing updates with you leading up to September.
As I continue to fall in love with the outdoors it's become clear to me that this is what I was meant to do. I will do.
✌️ Peace
