They study at the Ramakrishna Mission School and they dream big.
Students of Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Sharada Balgram are embarking on a week long educational trip to Vivekananda Sites, Rameshwaram, Madurai, Trivandrum and other places to revisit history and learn from the works of great Indian heroes like Swami Vivekananda.
Why should you contribute?
In the year 1893, Swami Vivekananda shook the world with his historic speech at the World's Parliament of Religions in Chicago. The speech would go on to inspire and empower people for centuries after it was first delivered. However, very few people know the challenges faced by Swami Vivekananda to bring his trip to Chicago a reality. Swami Vivekananda's trip was funded by a set of his devotees whose contributions made the speech possible. Raja Ajit Singh of Khetri, Maharaj of Mysore, the Nizam of Hyderabad and other selfless Indians made this trip possible through their generous contributions.
This year, the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Sharada Balgram, lead by Swami Supradiptananda, is taking 120 students to visit historic places like Vivekananda Kendra, Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Rameshwaram etc. This opportunity will not just introduce students to the ideas and ideals of great Indian heroes but will also help them discover the rich history of these places.
What can happen with your contribution?
120 bright young students from Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Sharada Balgram will be able to learn and better understand the history and importance of various historical sites and the stories behind them. These students, coming mostly from low income families, are the future leaders of India and the world but have been deprived of such opportunities due to lack of finances. The average cost per student for this trip is Rs. 10,000 including food, lodging, transportation and other expenses.
