My baby’s days are numbered because of his heart disease. Help me save him

We were so elated when Abimanyu came into our lives one year ago. For my husband and I, there was nothing more in this world that we wanted, than to have a child of our own.

We were overjoyed to know that we were going to become parents. But our happiness didn’t last long.

One day he was breathing heavily owing to a cough and cold, along with fever, and his body started turning blue. On 22 March 2021, we rushed him to the hospital.

After a few tests were done, we were asked to come to the doctor’s cabin.

That’s when I heard the most horrifying news, “Your son has a congenital heart disease. His condition is curable, but we need to start the treatment immediately.”

He has been diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot with severe infundibular and valvar pulmonary stenosis. An immediate open Heart Surgery and continuous medical treatment can cure him. But the estimated cost of treatment is a whopping Rs 10 lakh ($ 13692.34).

Our whole world fell apart right then.

We are from Tuticorin district and my husband is the only earning member. He’s a coolie and due to the pandemic, arranging money has become even tougher.

We have already spent a huge amount on his treatment. I have pawned all my jewelry and taken a huge loan with high interest. Our means are over now.

I can’t stop crying seeing my beautiful son suffering. I will do everything I can to help my little one.

Never did we expect such a situation to happen in our lives- our son is struggling and we have no means to save him.
