Help Support Underprivileged Families in Delhi during COVID crisis

Sundar Nagar Nursery is a part of the larger Nizamuddin Basti in Central Delhi. However, it is located slightly away from the rest of the area, thus isolating the migrant community that lives there from the governmental and non-governmental interventions in place in Nizamuddin Basti. The community consists of people from low-income groups who rely on wages from domestic work, auto-rickshaw driving, and other informal labour.

The YP Foundation has been working with young girls in the area since 2005 with the aim of furthering their life skills, developing their leadership capacities, and training them on topics of health and gender. With the lockdown that has been in place since 27th March, almost all of these girls' families have lost their jobs. Given their geographic location, they do not have easy access to ration, medicine, or sanitary kits.

While The YP Foundation has been fortunate to receive grants to support its other programmes, we have realised that we will need monetary resources to support the Sundar Nagar girls and their families in a sustainable manner.

With this financial support, we are planning to distribute ration kits, sanitary kits, and medicines for the next 3 months. Each ration kit will include rice, flour, pulse, oil, 3 essential spices, salt, soya bean, sugar, tea, potatoes and onions
