Fundraiser Ended! This fundraiser ended on September 30, 2021
Dear Alumni
You wanted to help! We need your help!!
We are looking forward to your generous contributions towards our 1st campaign.
We are raising a corpus of Rs 2 Crore.
Here, we can accept INR currency only. In case you are not able to donate in INR, please donate us via https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=2FFHDSHCSCEK8
Your generous blessings by donation helped the father of a young BITian hospitalized in rural Bihar. He was assisted by us for the right medical advice and access to the right hospital in Patna. Unfortunately he has now been diagnosed with black fungus, after recovering from Covid. BG SOS Task Force has put their might to get him admitted at AIIMS Patna. We are also scouting for alternate medical facilities in Ranchi, Kolkata, and Delhi where surgical intervention can save his eyesight and his life. The BITian (son) with tearful eyes expressed his gratitude to all the donors, the Family Support team, and SOS Task Force for medical, financial, emotional support with the alumni backing him up. The Family Support Team and SOS Task Force are in constant touch with him.
The Covid War Room and the Fund Expenses Committee have taken an unanimous decision to focus on financial and medical support to the covid impacted alumni, students, faculty, staff, and their families and are not spending anymore on O2 concentrators etc. We have spent money in some pockets in rural Bihar, UP and Jharkhand in terms of oximeter, thermometer, and generic medicine packets. Now the entire focus is on comprehensively helping the impacted families with a 360-degree approach including jobs and career.
Your financial blessings have also rekindled the hope in a family of a young and bright professor, who is also a BIT Mesra alumni and the only earning member with two young kids. His wife, after exhausting medical insurance and all her financial resources, including borrowing from friends and family (upwards of Rs 5 Lakh), has profusely thanked for your generous and benevolent donations. It has helped her to sustain the day to day living expenses and avoid interruption to the education of her kids, at least for the next few months.
It is not just these two families, but we have more than 40 families badly impacted by this pandemic. Their plight is heart wrenching. They are being extended support both emotionally and financially using the funds collected from donations. We all solicit your support, generosity, and benevolence for this large cause to help fellow BITians.
Let us come together with speed and generosity to help the community overcome this extreme crisis. We look forward to you extending a helping hand.
P.S: BITOSA Global does not represent the institute and we are not soliciting funds on behalf of the institute (Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, Ranchi)

Dear Alumni
You wanted to help! We need your help!!
We are looking forward to your generous contributions towards our 1st campaign.
We are raising a corpus of Rs 2 Crore.
Though we will run this campaign till June 30th, we will be using up the collected fund as and when possible to provide timely help with Oxygen Concentrators, Medical and Financial Aid.
BITOSA Global has commenced a few initiatives in the last one week through a COVID WAR ROOM. The idea was to put together various teams of volunteers from across the chapters in India and beyond, to help alumni, students, campus staff and their families during this pandemic.
Based on the input we received from across the alumni network, we started working on 5 initiatives:
The SOS Task Force team is receiving ~50 requests per day with requirements such as beds, plasma, ventilators, medicines, oxygen from alumni and their family members. While we do not have direct access to any of the resources, we are trying to resolve each and every request. One of the insights we have is Oxygen is in shortage and can save a maximum number of lives in today's crisis.
BITOSA Global (BG) members reached out to us with a desire to contribute for India in this tough time, especially to our BIT fraternity. BG Family came together to provide a consolidated platform for BITians all over the world to be part of the cause and contribute.
Let us come together with speed and generosity to help the community overcome this extreme crisis. We look forward to you extending a helping hand.

FAQs
1. How will Oxygen Concentrators be distributed?
We are working with logistics partners. The plan is to have 5-10 Oxygen Concentrators per BITOSA Global chapters in India. The requisition form will be published for the alumni and a supervising doctor appointed for the respective BITOSA Global chapter will ensure that it is delivered on the basis of requisition, the devices are maintained, sanitized and then subsequently given to the next in need.
2. How will Medical Aid and Financial Aid be given? What will be the criteria?
Here also, we will publish a requisition form which will seek details and supporting documents. We will set up a panel of supervising doctors to help decide the quantum and case which needs to be provided with the aid. There are fundraisers being done by alumni, students, campus staff and their families for Financial Aid, we also plan to contribute towards those through the fund collected here.
Please watch this space as we detail out the implementing partners and process.
3. Will I get a tax exemption on my contribution?
No. we are not registered as a NGO and we don’t have the necessary approvals.
4. Will I get a receipt and a certificate / acknowledgement?
Yes. You will get a receipt.
We also plan to issue certificates to all our donors and also plan to separately identify our top donors and call them out on our bitosaglobal.org website and our social media pages.
5. How else can I help the initiatives under BITOSA Global for the pandemic?
The biggest help would be to hugely promote this campaign with your batchmates and friends. Each donor is a Fund Raiser for us. With your help we can raise this corpus in much shorter time and get to the job of helping with Oxygen Concentrators and Aid soonest.
You could also make time to volunteer with our various initiatives.
6. How do I know how the money is being spent and is not being mismanaged?
BITOSA Global works like Wikipedia and hence transparency is in-built. Apart from financial audit, please keep hawk-eye on the updates tab where we will be detailing the Oxygen Concentrators bought and who were the beneficiaries, similarly with Medical Aid and Financial Aid. We will be publishing updates here which will be sent via our faithful mailer from BITOSA Global weekly and monthly updates detailing the expense and the beneficiaries.
This is the first campaign. How many campaigns does BITOSA Global intend to have?
In our first campaign, our focus is alumni, students, campus staff and their families from across the various campuses of BIT Mesra. As we are learning to work the logistics, identifying and serving the needs and figure out potentially non-profit status etc., we are limiting our scope. In Phase 2, we would like to expand the scope to much beyond to serve people in utmost need. This will depend on the capacity we are able to build on the back of all of you who will choose to volunteer.
7. What is the minimum amount I can donate?
There is no minimum amount. You may donate basis your desire. We definitely would want you to be as generous as possible and donate upwards of Rs 5000. This is with the intent that we can quickly raise the amount and deliver assistance soonest to those in need.
8. Can I donate every month a recurring amount?
Right now we have not provisioned for this. Based on the feedback, we could consider this in the future.
9. Can I donate directly into BITOSA’s account?
Yes, you may. Please write to us covidhelp@bitosaglobal.org for bank account details.
10. How can I reach out to a local BITOSA Global volunteer to clarify my doubts?
Please write to us and we will be happy to put you in touch with the local alumni volunteer and also help in answering your queries.
11. Is BITOSA Global looking at assisting alumni, students, campus staff and their families once they have recovered from Covid though need continued medical and mental health assistance?
We haven't thought this through completely, though we are getting a lot of feedback and inputs. We are seriously considering. Mental health seems like a big fallout of this pandemic and we are discussing this further.
12. What if the situation improves and Oxygen Concentrators are not needed in large numbers, how will then the funds get utilized?
We continue to believe that Oxygen Concentrators will continue to be needed as people recovering from severe Covid need assistance with this device 30 to 60 days post hospitalization. Though if need arises and if we receive feedback from alumni, then we can reduce the scope towards Oxygen Concentrators and increase the allocation towards Medical and Financial Aid.
13. Apart from this fund raise, what else is BITOSA Global doing for alumni, students, campus staff and their families?
Volunteers from across the chapters and across the continents met on 30th April. COVID WAR ROOM was set up. Since then following initiatives have been kickstarted:
