About the Fundraiser

A part of Nanda Devi Glacier in Uttarakhand broke away on Sunday 7 February 2021 at Joshimath, impacting several lives at Chamoli district. This was the first of its kind of disaster that has struck the district.

Most of the men who lost their lives were the only bread earners of their families with no other source of income. In every natural disaster, children are the worst affected! They struggle to come to terms with intense psychological trauma as they deal with the loss of homes, belongings, and their loved ones.

Children need urgent support to make it through this crisis and only your support can help them overcome these hardships and rebuild their lives.

SOS Children’s Villages of India Team has hit the ground to assess the damage and help support the needy. As a leading childcare organisation, the immediate relief that we propose to provide on the ground is to set up a makeshift childcare centre for the families who have lost lives and livelihood. The Child-friendly care centre will ensure that each child is provided with necessary support and is protected. We will be providing children with opportunities to develop, play, learn, besides providing nutritious food and restore a sense of normalcy and continuity for children, whose lives have been disrupted by the disaster.

Immediate Response:

a. One Child-friendly space will be created for the children who have lost their loved ones and are in immediate need of care and protection.

b. 3 months Ration for those who have lost their livelihoods.

c. Hygiene kits and medical kits for the families whose lives have been affected in the disaster

Please come forward and provide your immediate support to 50 children who are in dire need of your support.
