About the Fundraiser
United Against Hate is a network of young activists who have been making interventions against hate attacks across India. They are now looking to create an Emergency fund of 20 lac rupees to help victims get relief and fight for justice. Make a contribution to this fund.
MORE ABOUT UNITED AGAINST HATE
In 2017, a group of young citizens decided to come together and they created United Against Hate. In just over one year, the group, that consists of conscientious citizens, academics, entrepreneurs, student activists and others, has been consistently campaigning against hate crimes, attacks on minorities, mob lynching and communal violence.
So much so, that the campaign is now seen as India's Rapid Response team against hate crimes.
They provide legal help, generate media attention, and provide relief to the victims, in whichever way possible. They have made a mark in the civil society of India with a series of programmes, Public meetings, tribunals, fact finding visits, press conferences and protest demonstrations.
Umar Khalid, one of the members of the United Against Hate campaign was recently attacked outside the Constitution Club in the national capital during the first anniversary meeting of the United Against hate campaign. Other members of the group include Nadeem Khan, Khalid Saifi, Banojyotsna Lahiri, Shariq Husain and Mohit Pandey among many others spread across parts of India.
From issues like 'Where is Najeeb', End Mob Lynching campaign to the mainstreaming of the Assam NRC issue, the group has managed to carve it's own niche in the Indian civil society in just about a year.
But here is the challenge - as India heads to the 2019 elections, the threat of communal disharmony and political violence is only expected to grow. It's for the citizens to be prepared in the best way possible to pre-empt these challenges. The organisation is looking to raise a corpus of Rs 20 lakh rupees to mobilise volunteers in any part of the country in a short span of time.
Furthermore, close to 80% of all victims of hate and mob-lynching over the last few years are directly in touch with the campaigners of United Against hate. The group hopes to mobilise relief funds and alternative livelihood to these members of our society from this fund.
