About the Organisation
IDEA is a NGO working for the underprivileged children, youth and women in a few slums and Govt. schools in Pune city. IDEA was started by a team of experienced social scientists and social workers , to deal with the problems in education and developmental issues of the marginalized people.
Organisation Activities
Some of our activities are:-
1. Play & Learn centers or study centers to help children who lag behind in studies .
2. Sponsorship program for the needy & deserving children to enable them continue education.
3. Skill development programs like vocational training & Craft and embroidery classes for the drop-out youth and women to give them livelihood opportunities.
Beneficiary Groups
Currently IDEA is working in 10 slums with a population coverage of 80,000 and reaching out to 4500 children apart from youth and women. Recently we have also started a rural project to address malnutrition and Early Childhood Education issues amongst the poor children in close association with the Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS).

History of the Organisation
Foundation for Initiatives in Development and Education for All (IDEA) is a Pune based NGO with a focus on minimizing school drop-out amongst the marginalized children. IDEA originated from the findings of a PhD study on the reasons of school drop-out among underprivileged children and the impact of the interventions taken by the Government and Voluntary sector to address this problem .
Along with enrolling children in school at the ‘right age ‘ by identifying ‘ out of school ‘ children in the age group of 6 to 14 year, we adopt a holistic approach to retain their interest in school , so that they do not drop-out of school.

Awards / Recognition
IDEA is an accredited member of Credibility Alliance. After a thorough due diligence process, it is listed by Give India, Godparents.in Foundation & Global Giving .
IDEA is one of the recipients of the ‘Outstanding Annual Report Awards-2010’, a national level competition organized by CSO Partners & Credibility Alliance every year. Winners are selected based on accountability and transparency in NGO Governance.
In Nov 2011, we have received Dhyas Social Excellence Award 2011 – a state level award for best NGOs instituted by Excellence group of companies.
