Smile Foundation is one of a very respected and trusted NGO across India working for the development of underprivileged society by the ways of education, employability training for youth, women empowerment and primary health care.
1. Mission Education: Mission Education is a national level programme from Smile Foundation which focuses on basic education for underprivileged children and youth.The educational initiatives for underprivileged children include Crèche, Pre-school, Non Formal Education, Remedial Education Bridge Course, Functional Literacy and Family Life Education for adolescent girls. These projects support more than 100 grassroots initiatives working for the education of very poor and underprivileged children. 2. Smile On Wheels: Smile Foundation has initiated the Smile on Wheels programme. This is a unique mobile hospital programme that seeks to address problems of mobility, accessibility and availability of primary health care with a special focus on children and women, in urban slums and remote rural areas. The Smile on Wheels programme at present has 12 operational projects running in 11 locations covering 172 slums with the population of 10.67 lakh in 9 states of the country. Since inception in 2006 this programme has directly benefitted 4,78,923 beneficiaries 3. Smile Twin-E-Learning Programme: Smile Twin E- learning Programme (STeP) is such an initiative of Smile Foundation that aims at creating a pool of young and independent people, from the marginalized section, through skill enhancement in tandem with market requirements. This national level programme trains the urban underprivileged adolescent youth in English Proficiency, Basic Computer Education and Soft Skills for enhancing their prospects of employment in the fast expanding retail, hospitality and BPO sectors. 4. Swabhiman: Swabhiman is an initiative of Smile Foundation that has been working, with a bifocal approach, for the sustainable development of underprivileged women and girls. Initiated in the year 2005, Swabhiman works towards its objective of all round development of women and girls, through the following interventions- Educational Support, Providing Reproductive Health and Child Health Services, Male Involvement & Attitudinal and Behavioural Changes,Imparting Life Skill Education,Networking and Convergence Support,Sensitization of privileged Women and Youth.The programme has benefitted over 150,000 women and girls since inception. Outreach: Quite distinctive in its approach, the Outreach programme of Smile Foundation, directly implements the community development initiatives for corporates and development agencies. 6. Action For Children (AFC): Action For Children is based on the concept that development is a people’s issue and not just the government’s concern. With this premise, the Foundation has been striving to build a civil society that owes responsibility for societal development and participate whole-heartedly in transforming the lives of underprivileged children.Through AFC, Smile Foundation encourages individuals, civil society groups, corporate houses, professional associations, schools, colleges, youth wings to participate in the development process.
Smile Foundation reaches out to over 1 million underprivileged children, youth & women through various Development projects across India.
Smile Foundation is present in the states of Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Goa, Kerala, Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya and Manipur.
